Based on people saying that Tony had no reaction to losing Jarvis and especially these tags: #tony’s most enduring relationship yet what his loss meant for him wasn’t even brushed upon in aou.
Tony Stark is a person who will not sit and do nothing when faced with death, no matter if it’s his own or someone he cares about. He will not let grief leave him motionless. He will stand up and fight and get revenge.
But in only these two cases, he had complete opposite reaction. When he realized that Banner, man who he respected and at that point considered a friend, was suicidal and tried to end his misery, he was broken. He was motionless, his eyes showed his devastation.
He had the exact same reaction when Vision said he is not Jarvis. Tony helped create Vision. Ultron gave him the body, but Tony gave him his mind. He put Jarvis, a system that was named by a man who raised him, a caretaker, an artificial intelligence that is ‘til this day the best thing Tony created, and a friend, he put him inside this body. There was a great chance he would bring his greatest friend to life and give him the body he deserved. But also there was a chance that this new body would have the mind of his own, completely different to what Jarvis was and stood for. He took that risk and gave his best shot in order to protect everyone.
When Vision woke up, Tony had a glimpse of hope on his face that his friend is now walking and standing right beside him. But as soon as Vision said he is neither Ultron nor Jarvis, he realized his best friend is gone. He had the same look when he realized that Bruce wanted to kill himself. Because that is Tony’s reaction to his friend taking his own life or him taking his friend’s life. In that moment Tony understood what happened, that he killed Jarvis, at least the original one. And he was completely devastated.
