So I started this little thing a month or so ago, but I just have no idea where to take it, so I am offering it up to al my Tasertricks friends if they want to continue it, be inspired by it or whatever. 🙂 @soothsayerstale @concavepatterns @howdidthisevenhappenanyway and anyone else interested…
I wonder if you care,
I wonder if you still remember,
Once upon a time,
In your wildest dreams.~The Moody Blues~
Exhausted from all the science Jane, Dr. Banner and Stark got into, Darcy Lewis quickly showered, brushed her teeth and slipped on a pair of panties and oversized t-shirt. Crawling between freshly washed sheets, she settled herself quickly with a sigh and closed her eyes. Tomorrow Team Study Everything would keep her hopping once again, and Lab Assistant Lewis needed all the energy she could get to keep them in line, focused, and fed. Tonight she just wanted to sleep.

When Darcy woke it was to the feel of a soft blanket beneath her, the smell of fresh grass, and the warmth of the sun. Blinking her eyes against the light she sat up only to realize she was now wearing a green sundress stitched together with golden thread. With one hand she smoothed down the dress, while taking in her surroundings.
“What the…” she muttered as the meadow around her seemed impossibly beautiful and odd and familiar all once.
Darcy stood, noting a large shade tree a small ways from her. For a moment she stilled, then memories came rushing back to her. She’d been here before. So many times. She knew this meadow, that tree, and the green of her dress.
This was the place where she dreamed of a god named Loki.
Sometime after her eighteenth birthday she began to dream of him. At first it was longing glances and sighs. Visions that lasted mere minutes. As months passed, Darcy and Loki became closer and the attraction between them clearer. He’d kissed her for the first time beneath that same tree and she remembered clearly how the world spin off its axis.
Eventually her dreams with Loki developed into so much more than friendship. There were secrets shared, kisses exchanged and touches that left her aching and unfulfilled upon waking. And then one day, he was gone. The dreams stopped and Darcy never felt more cold and alone than she did in the months that followed.
She thought about him even now, almost two years after the last time she saw him. She wondered daily if he was okay, wondered even more if he was real.
As if conjured by her thoughts, a blueish light appeared beneath tree. The shape of a man began to form and she knew it was him by the tilt of his head as looked at her. Before she could register her actions Darcy ran and threw herself at him, wrapping her legs about his waist and her arms around his neck.
He held her tightly, shifting from his armor into clothing more suitable for this meeting. Darcy raised her head to look at him. He was exactly as she remembered, almost a full head taller than her, with black hair, devilish green eyes and killer cheekbones. His long, lean body felt like home.
“Loki! What the hell?” she questioned, lifting her head to look in his eyes.
The smile he gave her was genuine in its affection though there were telltale signs of stress and exhaustion around his eyes.
“I am sorry for disappearing, Darcy,” he replied quietly, though he offered no explanation for why these shared dreams stopped over a year ago. “It was not by choice, I assure you.
Darcy loosened her hold and he let her slide down him slowly until her feet were on the ground. She hitched her breath, feeling the swell of arousal pressing against her belly. In dreams prior he’d made no secret about wanting her but it never went further than heated kisses and heavy petting. But this felt weirdly real and more intense than ever before.
Heat flared between them and Loki raised shaking hands to frame her face. “You are as beautiful as I remember,” he whispered before lowering his head and claiming her mouth.
That felt more real too; the heat of his mouth, the way his tongue teased her bottom lip. She wanted to deepen it, lose herself in it, but common sense and curiosity were still clinging to the outskirts of her mind like a stubborn wad of gum so she drew back, reluctant and a little out of breath, to ask, “Is this…It feels different than before. Are you really here? Am I even here?”
Loki chuckled. “I’m afraid the answer to that is far more complicated than the question.”
“But you are back, right?” Please tell me this isn’t only a trick my mind’s playing on me is what she wanted to say, but Darcy swallowed down that plea with a tiny, aching lump.
Loki’s whole demeanor seemed to shift and ease at that, like slow-melting butter as his eyes softened even further, the last signs of stress sliding from the hard set of his shoulders. He looked vulnerable. Trusting. The sight made something flutter warmly in Darcy’s chest.
Bringing a hand to her neck, his fingers brushed the curve of her jaw, forehead tipping down to rest against hers as he promised, “I am.”
“Will you tell me?” She asked, taking his hand and leading him back to the blanket. “Will you tell me where you’ve been?” She repeated as they settled on the ground.
Not wanting to break the physical connection between them, Loki pulled her in front of him so that she rested between his powerful thighs her back to his front.
“It is a long story, Darcy, and a difficult one,” he replied seriously, wrapping his arms about her and burying his face in her shoulder. His Darcy radiated warmth and light and he could not seem to get close enough.
“I don’t know about you, but I’ve got nothing else going on right now.” She said it lightly, wanting to alleviate a little of the sadness just beneath the surface.
When he didn’t answer she turned her head, forcing him test her eyes. “Please, Loki. I worried about you. So much that I thought I made you up. But you’re here and you’re real, and I need to know why you weren’t for so long.”
Loki swallowed thickly, surprised and yet not at all surprised at how this slip of a woman affected him. So he told her. He told her the things he’d seen and learned. He told her the choices he made and the terrible things he was made to do.
And he held her, helplessly, while she cried for him. For all his pain and suffering, she shed tears.
Then Darcy wiped her face and turned around, kneeling between his legs. “Why didn’t you come to me for help? I could have helped you!”
“Sweet girl,“he said, letting his hands frame the face that had saved him through many sleepless nights, "It was my journey, and my duty to keep you safe. Coming to you would placed you in grave danger. I could not have borne such a thing.”
“But…” She tried to say but Loki only shook his head and shifted them so she was cuddled against his chest once more.
“You were my light in the darkest moments, never doubt your worth to me.”
He kissed her then, slowly, sweetly, melting her heart.
Hours later they lay in the grass, clothing scattered around them and Darcy rested her head on Loki’s chest.
“Loki?” She questioned, fingers drawing a lazy pattern across his chest.
“Yes?” He shifted, pulling her closer.
“I know we can’t stay in this meadow forever but when will I see you again?”
His lips curved in a smile. “Sooner than you know, Darcy.”
****and that is about as far as that can go.****
