“We would be together and have our books and at night be warm in bed together with the windows open and the stars shining bright.” ~Ernest Hemingway~

Tasertricks AU

Darcy Ann Lewis runs a quiet little bookshop in a quiet little town where nothing exciting ever happens. Just about the only thrills she can get are between the pages of the books she sells. That is until a tall, handsome stranger with adventure glinting in his eyes strolls into her shop.

Loki Laufeyson has been relentlessly searching for a certain book and he’s tracked it to a tiny, dusty shop in a tiny, dusty town. It should have been a quick exchange with the pretty little bookseller. Cash for the text and then on to the next clue – but no. The irritatingly bubbly termagant swore she had no idea what he was talking about.

Now he’s stuck in Podunk, New Mexico sorting through her haphazard organization to find the book while trying to keep his eyes and hands off the delectable Miss Lewis.

That is until a second party comes to town searching for the same thing and threatening Darcy.

Loki is determined to find the prize the book is rumored to lead to and equally determined to keep Darcy safe. Can he do both, or will he have to sacrifice one in order to have the other?

Happy Birthday, party-in-the-blue-box!

December 28 “Apart from being sexy, what do you do for a living?” Tasertricks for @party-in-the-blue-box

“Loki, this is your fault!” Jane jabbed him sharply in the ribs. He looked down his nose at her.

“That seems to be a very common refrain among you Midgardians,” he sneered.

“Don’t. You. Dare.” Her eyes narrowed. “It’s your use of magic that led Hydra to us, and then you only grabbed me and not Darcy before you poofed out again!”

“Teleported, not poofed,” Loki shrugged irritably. “How was I to know that the other human was of use to you?”

Jane growled. Loki actually found himself taking a small step back. “Fine. Fine! I will go and get it.”

“HER! Her name is Darcy!” Jane shouted after him as he disappeared again in a puff of green smoke. “I am so getting Thor to hit you with Mjolnir when he gets here,” she muttered under her breath, starting to pace up and down.

Loki found the little mortal strapped down to a makeshift hospital bed in one of Hydra’s facilities. “Oh, this is distasteful,” he looked around, making a face. Sent the two lab-coated technicians who tried to rush him flying with a flick of his fingers; they both hit the wall hard and lay still.

“Darcy,” he leaned over the bed, reaching to unfasten the Velcro straps holding her down. “Can you hear me?”

Blue eyes opened, but her stare was unfocused, vague. “Hey, hot stuff,” she slurred at him. “Apart from being sexy, what do you do for a living?”

Startled, Loki blinked down at her. “I rescue Midgardian maidens in distress, it appears,” he said. “What did they give you, little one?”

“Dunno. Feel sleepy. Take me to bed, stud, or lose me forever.” She smiled dreamily, held her arms out towards him.

“I think sleep is probably what you need,” Loki said, “and a medical facility. A proper one.” He sighed. He was going to have to call in a favor from Stark, he just knew it. Gently, he lifted the little mortal into his arms. She tucked her face against his throat and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“You smell nice,” Darcy mumbled vaguely.

Loki realized, rather to his discomfort, that she smelled nice too. He had an ominous feeling that the grip she had around his neck wasn’t letting go anytime soon.

Somehow, he found he didn’t mind at all.

The Devil In My Shadow

eternal-love-song:

For @soothsayerstale. A little early gift for Christmas~

Imagine a Soulmate AU where your shadow is the silhouette of your soulmate. You find it really odd how sometimes the shadow of your soulmate appears with horns on his head.

People thought Darcy was the devil. It was something that she had come to terms with years ago, but it never stopped being a reality for her. Wherever she went there were whispers, sometimes there was pointing, there was always fear.

No one had wanted to explain it too her when she was younger, but she had discovered it herself before too long. Your shadow wasn’t really your shadow, it was your soulmate’s shadow. So what did it say about her, that her shadow was this intimidating figure with horns on it’s head? It was jarring for those around when she was small, having this large, horned male figure spreading out from her tiny body.

The conclusion they had come to was as obvious as it was ridiculous.

Darcy knew that her soulmate was not a devil or a demon or whatever else people said. Even if they was, though, it would be pretty cool. How many people could claim that their soulmate was a demon?

By the time she was in college she had learned to own it. To walk with the confidence of someone with a devil on their side, to stop caring about what other people thought of her and said about her and live like she wanted to. Sometimes, she even went so far as to match her soulmate, getting small fake horns and wearing them on her head in solidarity.

She wasn’t sure why her soulmate had horns most of the time, why they seemed so much older than her, but never seemed to age from what she saw of the silhouette, but she had learned to keep an open mind.

When an alien fell from the sky and into Jane’s life, she was pretty sure she had her answer.

Jane’s shadow had always been larger than life, inspiring a confidence in her that most either hated or admired. Darcy had always done the latter, while most of Jane’s colleagues did the former. It was fitting that she spent her entire life watching the sky and that’s where her soulmate came from.

It was a while later that she met Loki. He appeared in all his horned, caped glory, and she couldn’t help but to look between him and her shadow, just to make sure she wasn’t imagining it. But no, there was her own image, standing behind this man.

“Where is my brother?” He asked, just as Thor came bursting out to greet him.

“Loki!” Thor bellowed, hugging the man tightly, holding him in place while Darcy got her barrings. The man’s name reverberated in her mind as she stared at him. Their words quickly drifted into the background as she gathered up the power to speak.

“Loki,” She said. Her voice wasn’t weak, as she had feared. It was strong, excited. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow. “Hey, soulmate. Nice to see you in the flesh.”

The words seemed to be a switch. Loki looked at her more closely, at his shadow, then moved around Thor to stand before her. “You are the little one that has been following me for so long.”

“And you’re the devil that’s been stalking me all my life.”

Loki grinned, taking her hand and kissing it. “It will be a pleasure to stalk you in the flesh,” He told her. She was really looking forward to it.

Loki’s Perspective: The Odinsleep and Loki’s Ascension

This post is about a deleted scene!

The link can be found here: http://starkindustries.ru/news/2011-09-02-2925 (This one is the seventh down, titled Воцарение Локи. Again, sorry about the Russian, but I don’t have another link.)

Note about this scene: In the original film, this scene comes after the next one – Loki talking to Sif and TW3 on the throne. However, with the extended version, it was meant to be placed here, so this is where I’ll analyze it.

In the beginning of this scene, we get a very touching moment between Loki and Frigga. Loki is still reeling from all the revelations and he’s trying to get grounded once again. Frigga is there for him in his time of need, comforting him, telling him he is loved, he’s a good son, and that no matter what, he will always be a part of the family.

Frigga: There should be no secrets in a family.
Loki: So why did he lie?
Frigga: He kept the truth from you so that you would never feel different. You are our son, Loki, and we, your family. You must know that.

This is what Loki needs right now. Calm words, reassurance. Loki could have gone off the rails here, but Frigga keeps him from losing himself. The only other person who ever treats Loki this way is Thor.

Unfortunately, Thor doesn’t really realize how broken and anguished his brother is until after the events of this movie take place. In fact, he doesn’t even know about Loki’s true parentage during this film at all.

It isn’t really until the Avengers that Thor starts trying to reason with Loki, to pull him back from the edge by telling him he’s loved. But by then it’s been much too long, and Loki is too far gone.

Then of course, the other interesting part of this scene is the part that got cut: The Ascension. His conversation over with, Loki turns to leave, but is interrupted when the doors swing open and the guards line up.

Now, despite what Frigga just said about Loki still being family, he’s a Jotun. Jotunheim just declared war. In his mind, he’s the enemy. A long line of guards is not what he wants to see right now. He’s probably pretty scared that they’re here to take him away. He’s thinking they’ve come to throw him in the dungeons for being an imposter, and he’s going to rot there the rest of his days.

Which is why he’s wholly unprepared for what comes next.

The way his eyebrows draw together when he realizes what’s going on says everything. “What? Me? You want me to be king?“

He’s emotionally unstable and really just needs to find somewhere quiet to sit down and think through everything, but the kingdom needs him, and all of a sudden, he has to step up and take control.

He is, understandably, absolutely terrified.

Once again, Frigga is there to reassure him. She’s behind him all the way, and fully believes that he can do this. Her support gives him the strength to step up and do what needs to be done.

Hesitantly, Loki takes the staff, and the responsibility that goes with it. His chin raises as he silently tells himself ”I can do this.“ His mother’s small nod as she addresses him serves to tell him that she believes in him. She knows he can be a great king.

Now, running a country on the brink of war is probably not what Loki should be doing right now. He’s got some major issues that he hasn’t worked out yet and he’s still very insecure and unsteady. He’s needs time to recover from everything that’s happened today – but he hasn’t got any. Asgard needs him now, and – troubled as he is – he’s going to do what must be done.

Loki, in his emotional turmoil, grabs onto this as his chance to prove himself. He has to show all the world that he can be king. He has to prove to himself that he’s no different, that no matter what race he truly is, he’s still the same person, and he’s just as capable as anyone else. This is his one shot – and if something goes wrong – he’ll hate himself even more for ruining it.

Back to the Master Post

Don’t forget what he says to Thor when they are fighting at the Bifrost. “I never wanted the throne. I only wanted to be your equal.” Equal? In what way? Co-rulers? I don’t think so. I think he meant equal in the eyes of Odin. A point which is further driven home when, at the end, he lets go only after Odin says, “No, Loki.” He failed. Loki realized that he was never going to be good enough.
