whatisthisoutsideyouspeakof:

a reason I love this scene so much is because she was /scared/ of the hulk, like any sane human would be. and she was never portrayed as weaker for being scared, and she fought past it like an actual character. and that’s what I really love: it was a dimension, not just the one dimensional “strong” women characters that we’ve been getting (not that they’re all bad. Zoe, man) that are never ever allowed to be both scared and fucking badass and capable. and we need more characters that can be both, or badass and mourning, or badass but still feminine (stereotypically). because that shows females watching this that yes, you can be scared out of your fucking mind and still be someone who is capable enough to be the best in the world.

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World: The Junior Novelization

Book Rec!

So I finally broke down and read this – and it was totally worth it. It’s somewhat different from the movie – but in a good way.

Highlights include –

  • Jane being on a date because Darcy wrote her an online dating profile
  • Darcy driving: “their car drove wildly through the streets of London much to the dismay of other drivers, pedestrians and even pigeons.”
  • Darcy speaks Farsi  “’What? I’ve got skills.’”
  • Deleted scenes from movie
  • Jane slightly creeped out by Heimdall watching her
  • Many more scenes with Frigga (including Frigga & Jane)
  • and of course [click for spoiler]

Frigga doesn’t die?

It’s not the complete story – it stops after Kurse and Malekith leave Asgard. But it’s very interesting what was different from the movie.

Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World: The Junior Novelization

Loki and Darcy meet a speed dating function. Loki’s there cause Thor forced Loki to come with him and Darcy’s there cause she forced Jane to go.

leftennant:

THIIIIIIIISSSSSS!!!!  Somebody needs to fic this right now so I can read it.  Bored, irritated Loki sitting at a table being a sarcastic ass to anyone who sits down with him, and Darcy plopping herself across the table with a loud sigh, because there is NO WAY she is going to have anything in common with the pale, superior looking Renaissance fair reject sitting on the other side.  😉
