I feel like Thor been holdin back ever since he realized Odin can take that hammer and deem him unworthy any time he fucks up. Thor need to be like â..fucketh all thatâ and turn up in Ragnarok like he did in 2011.
On my planet, we have a legend about people like you. Itâs called Footloose. And in it, a great hero, named Kevin Bacon, teaches an entire city full of people with sticks up their butts that, dancing, well, is the greatest thing there is.
Funny That Way by LuvaGoodMrE – One of my gateway fics into this fandom. Always good for a re-read.
Morbid Taste for Ice by sitehound  – I think this one qualifies as a fandom classic. Trigger warnings on this one, but the author is good at pointing them out.
No but this scene is extremely important and itâs why Iâm angry at people who say that Steveâs characterization sucked.
Steve is the only one who understands where these two kids come from. Hill is trying to distant Steve from them because right after he says this line she says: ââWeâre not at war anymore.ââ. Sheâs trying to prove that Steve did the right thing because when the country is at war we all make some hard choices that we are not proud of. In war everything is permitted, and Steve did the right thing because he was doing it for the right cause. Hill is basically saying âYou did it to protect your country and to save people and to make a difference, but these kids have no excuse for volunteering to these scientists.â
But how does Steve reply to that? To her ââWeâre not at war anymoreââ?
He says ââThey are.ââ
And it is SO important because Steve sees the big picture. For most Americans the war is something ugly that their grandparents had to deal with, something in the distant past that left mark but is also way behind them. But just because there wasnât a war in America for over 70 years doesnât mean that other countries have been so lucky. And Steve GETS IT. It doesnât mean that heâs not mad. It doesnât mean that he will not fight them if theyâre on the opposing sides. But he knows where they come from. And he wonât let them be reduced to some monsters who let German scientists experiment on them.
Because if Steve was anything but American during WW2, if he wasnât on the âwinning teamâ, he wouldnât be labeled as hero.
