Finally some building done! Here’s Jane Foster’s team of stormchasers
from @marvel’s first Thor movie
about to capture breathtaking images of yet another space event depicted in our skies.
The model of Jane’s research car was particularly challenging with its tons of detail. Also, it’s a very box-like car, making it easier to build with bricks, but also looking much less realistic as a model. I consider this a first prototype, as the overall shape as well as a lot of detail, such as the doors, the front grill, and the luggage rack on top are quite far from what it’s supposed to look like. The scale is very off, too, as you just can’t fit the detail into a smaller model.
From the back:
Erik, put aside the laptop and help with the heavy boxes!
Obviously, the minifigures also still need a lot of work. At the moment I’m back to the background to come, but that will take a while. (Round buildings, really?) There might be WIP pictures.
No Lego minifigure was harmed during the building of this, as here’s our stuntman Kevin:
Sheriff Rogers smoothed out the copied picture of two outlaws, the only one taken of either of them in the last seven or eight years: Loki Silvertongue and Miss Darcy Lewis. There was a whole lot of speculation about those two, and not much else. Loki was wanted for two counts of murder back in Asgard, of both his adoptive father and his biological one. He’d left a heaping big bunch of marshalls wounded and lit on outta there. Loki had been through every frontier territory there was and plenty of charges had followed in his wake. Train robbery, bribery, smuggling. But no trail, and no witnesses willing to even swear to what day of the week it was. He was tall, whip smart, and much stronger than he looked. A real menace to civilised folks, and somewhere along the way he’d acquired an accomplice.
Some said that Loki had kidnapped Miss Lewis, threatened to kill her if she didn’t do his bidding. Others said she went willingly, often going so far as to say Loki seduced her from a goodly, god-fearing life to one of sin. Saloon gals from here to Iowa smiled and said the name Silvertongue weren’t on account of his pretty words. But it was hard to tell. A marriage certificate had turned up in Kansas but if there was one thing anybody knew about Darcy Lewis, it was that she was one of the best damn forgers in the country. She faked travel papers, bills of sale, licences for anything and everything, state pardons. Hell, even money. And the only clue came when she disappeared and, instead of your half of whatever deal you thought you’d made, she left you with a red hot helping of lead.
Loki was a manipulative bastard but when it came down to it, he shot you straight. Quick and deadly. It was Miss Lewis you had to watch out for; she’d shoot you in the gut and still leave room for you to regret it. He’d heard that one time she just plain ran her horse right over some poor deputy.
All that was years ago, neither of them had been seen in a long time, and only one ranger from Asgard was on their trail now. Thor Odinson had promised to track his brother to the ends of the earth, but whether that was to bring him in or put a bullet in him, Steve wasn’t sure. But either way, Asgard had sent word that Odinson would be coming Steve’s way and it would be better for all concerned if Steve saw fit to share his jurisdiction.
And now that he thought about it, he had heard of a couple who’d staked a claim outside of town…
this was a really great prompt that I couldn’t even contain to just art!! I based it off this photo of Belle Starr (1848 – 1889), who was called the “bandit queen” and consorted with outlaws (including Jesse James). She supposedly wore a hat with feathers and, like in the photo, rode side-saddle. At one point she was arrested for horse theft by Bass Reeves, the original Lone Ranger! She was shot and killed extrajudicially aged forty in Oklahoma and her death went unsolved.
I started this (very) random picture a while back because I couldn’t sleep. So today I just felt like finishing it. It’s a pretty quick one, I think I spent like 3-4 hours on it.
“What would daddy dearest say if we stole is stash of liquor?”
“You want to steal my father’s mead?”
“Err…yeah.”
“Of course you would.”
In which Darcy is still half a goddess, Loki’s fallen even harder for her, and she has absolutely 0 fear of Odin’s wrath (okay…maybe 1 fear…or 2 if you squint).
Oldish sketch of Darcy Lewis from ‘Thor’ – I somehow was linked to this story back in December and subsequently wanted to draw dozens of Darcys lounging around in Loki’s shirts. Also – massive girl-crush on Kat Dennings? Why, I don’t mind if I do…
