High Rise by Kureiji Kurai

It had been pestilential and long day trapped in his ever-shrinking office. The walls closed a little more each day but at this moment he could not think of why, hardly had it in him to think clearly at all. He knew the day had been horrible up to this point. Nothing had gone wright, people annoyed him, but now he was exorbitantly more than content. In this moment, the day could have been the best he had in ages, years even.

Avengers AU: Loki and his forces are attempting to find and take Jane Foster as hostage from the SHIELD observatory, but Darcy is trying to run a distraction pretending to be Jane while Jane escapes.

jabberwocky-92:

It had been a little too easy for Loki’s liking to take over SHIELD’s observatory, but then again did anyone really expect him to turn up in the middle of Norway to take away a woman? And for the mortals that was their biggest mistake, forgetting where Loki was once known as a god and thinking that Jane would be safe there. Precious Jane, the only mortal woman that SHIELD had bothered to protect, all so that his brother wouldn’t get his heart broken and turn on them.

Stupid mortals.

Walking in to the large area that housed the telescope he was stopped by the view of a young woman typing away on the computer, loud music blaring from the device sitting next to her completely unaware that she was being watched by the most powerful being in the universe. “Excuse me.” He said, making a motion with his hand to stall the archer who was coming up the stairs behind him, there was no need for him to get involved if he could make this Jane woman come quietly. “I am looking for Thor’s… lover.” The word was spat out without him being able to stop himself, the very notion that this creature could change his brother in anyway making his anger boil to the surface.

The young woman paused her music and looked around, her eyes going wide as she saw him, quickly scrambling to her feet as she grabbed the device next to the one that had ceased creating the noise. “You… You found her.” She spoke, her voice meek in fear as she seemed to fumble with the device, freezing as an arrow landed just in front of her foot, a warning from Clint. Dropping the device she gulped loudly as she once again looked Loki up and down. “W-what do you want from her?”

“Why nothing bad.” Loki smiled sweetly, walking towards her and kicking the device away. “Just a chance to meet the woman who has made Thor such a… A changed man.” His smile turned in to a smirk as he wrapped a hand around her throat. “Though I can see why he would be physically attracted to you, he always did have a weakness for the larger women.” He sneered, making the young woman try to break free of his grasp, stopping when he squeezed tighter. “Do you know where Thor is?”

“Asgard?” The woman squeaked out and even in her breathy voice from him choking her, he could hear the sarcasm dripping from her tone.

“Do you think to make a mockery of me?!” He yelled, throwing her to the ground and watching as she coughed, trying to catch her breath.

“The horns do a good enough job of that!” She snapped back, glaring up at him as she rubbed her throat, glancing at the monitor next to Loki for a moment before looking back at him. With a frown Loki turned to the monitor, watching as a woman got in to a car and sped away, turning back to the young woman he could see that she was now starting to smirk, even as bruises in the shape of his fingertips blossomed on her pale skin.

“What is so funny, mortal? Do you think watching people flee to leave you to your fate amusing?” He asked, walking back over to her and wondering why she did not shrink in fear as she did the first time. “Tell me!” He demanded, feeling more and more like this evening was spinning widely out of his control.

“My name is Darcy Lewis, and that was Jane Foster getting away. Don’t really have very good spies if you can’t even get a photo of the woman you wa-“ Her words were cut off by the archer knocking her out cold as Loki proceeded to destroy the observatory and anyone still in it, watching as the archer scooped the young woman up and followed Loki out of the burning observatory obediently.

“Shall I kill her sir?” The archer asked, lying the woman down on the ground and moving her head so that he would have a clear shot to her throat as he raised his foot from the ground.

“No.” Loki said, walking away without another glance to the woman on the ground. “Let us wait and see how long it takes before SHIELD comes to save her, if they even care enough.” He made his way to a tree and sat down, watching as the archer frowned but followed his orders like a good little slave.

“Perhaps even my brother might show up.” He added, his smirk now turning deadly as he pulled a dagger from his tunic. Only the Norns knew for sure how such a strange night would end, but Loki was hoping that fate was on his side and it would end with the blood of his so called brother on his hands. “Or perhaps Darcy Lewis played a deadly game of chance with no reward but her death…”

(Based on this prompt from aenigmaticdays)

In a fit of boredom one night (and a generous glass of wine), Jane finds herself in a chat room for her old alumni where she meets a charming, witty man who graduated a few years ahead of her. And who understands her username.

So begins an online friendship filled with easy banter and the occasional bad joke (and no personal information beyond the general descriptions of their professions). As Jane’s life is thrown into a tailspin of burgeoning success in the scientific community, finally catching the eye of her secret crush, and having to deal with the most arrogant, awful man in the private sector who controls her new funding, she lives for the respite of her near daily chats with youweremadetoberuled.

Only, the line between friendship and something more has begun to blur. And he may not be all she thinks he is.

It’s about 99% likely that I will make this into a full fic. (So, nobody snag this without checking with me first, pretty, pretty please!) But for now, I’ll be posting some of their chats.

loki/Darcy he is always asking her out and she thinks it is a joke every time and he is starting to get annoyed and snaps

mischiefgoddesscomplex:

The first time he asks they are both in the heat of battle in the middle of New York City, fighting alongside the Avengers against the latest threat to the city. A rather large explosion goes off nearby, and Darcy finds herself crouched besides Loki, taking cover behind a car with her trusty taser in hand. She is panting, out of breath, and she looks up to see Loki perfectly composed but for a bead of sweat that rolls down his forehead. Another explosion goes off, this time right next to them, and it shakes the ground they are kneeling on.

“Oh, fuck me,” Darcy swears, her eyes wide with exasperation.

"Let me at least take you out to dinner first,” Loki proposes without missing a beat, and it takes Darcy a second before she realizes what he meant. She pulls a face as if to say “really?” and Loki winks at her before darting off to help finish the battle.

She sits behind that car longer than she should have, wondering if there was any substance to the comment he had made. Was it a joke? He’s never said anything like it before, and she figures it must be. Still, her mind wanders inappropriately to the scenario that had been suggested before she quickly snaps out of it…this is neither the time nor place.

She’s reading a book curled up on the couch in the Avenger’s Tower the second time he asks. He sits on the other side of the room, casually flipping through television channels on Stark’s massive high definition screen.

“Plans tonight?”

“Nope.”

“Let me buy you dinner at the most extravagant restaurant in town.”

“Ha.”

He lets it go with a slightly annoyed shrug, turning his attention back to the tv screen.  Clearly he must be joking again. When Darcy is sure he isn’t looking, she looks up and steals a glance at him. Just to judge his reaction. Certainly not to check him out or anything. Definitely not, she tells herself, as her eyes wander from his face down his lean, muscle-y arms.

She comes home crying a few days later, her cheeks stained with tears as she tries not to wake anyone in my middle of the night. She crawls on top of her bed, smushing her face into a pillow when she hears her door open with a tiny squeak.

“Are you alright?” He asks, coming to sit down on the edge of her bed.

Darcy pushes herself up with a deep sigh, steadying her breathing as she comes to sit by him, “Just boys being stupid. What else is new.”

“Did he hurt you?” Loki asks, his voice serious, “Tell me who he is, I swear he’ll never see the light of day again.”

“Lokes, calm down,” Darcy laughs quietly, placing a hand on his arm to steady him, “It was just a blind-date my friend had set me up on. Let’s just say the night ended with the guy making out with my friend, not me. I just feel stupid for even trying.”

“You shouldn’t ever feel stupid,” Loki says softly, reaching up and brushing a loose tear from her cheek, “Any man would be lucky to have you. I would have you right here if I could.”

The energy in the room changes as he finishes his sentence, and for some reason she feels like he is sitting a little too close for this to be a joke. Darcy can feel the heat rising in her cheeks, but she brushes off his suggestion with a playful shove, “Yeah, right.”

“You don’t think I’m serious?” Loki asks, and Darcy can hear a little bit of the hurt creep into his voice. Oh.

He leans down slightly, angling his head so that his lips hover over hers. Her breathing catches in her throat, and before she has a chance to wonder if this is actually happening, his lips press ever so softly against hers. The contact is all she needs to know that this is definitely not a joke.

She kisses him back, wrapping her arms around his neck and wondering why they haven’t done this sooner. He pushes her back down, pinning her to the mattress as he bites down on her lower lip, encouraging her to open her mouth. She moans as he writhes against her while simultaneously sliding his tongue into her mouth, and she can’t help but admire the delicious way he tastes of wintergreen gum. She greedily responds in kind, arching her back to create greater friction against their bodies as they continue to makeout on the bed.

Fuck me,” Darcy whines, her voice ragged as she breaks the kiss.

Loki delivers one long, passionate kiss before he pulls back, gazing into Darcy’s deep blue eyes. She’s breathing heavily, urging him to meet her mouth with his once more, but he only smiles as he pushes himself off the bed.

“Where are you going?” Darcy asks, looking over to him with confusion.

Loki stops with one hand on the door frame, looking back at her sprawled wildly on the bed. He smiles, and it is dark and seductive and her stomach does a flip at the sight.

“I believe I promised to take you out to dinner first, darling.”

Prompt Fill: An Easily Found Weakness

Anon prompted: Fury notices Loki’s soft spot for Darcy when he yells at her for something stupid she did and Loki fiercely jumps to her defense.

“That was classified information!” Fury’s voice echoed down the hallways, despite that he hadn’t shouted. Most who heard it crouched low over their keyboards. Not the girl on the receiving end of the argument. She stood with her head high and eyes flashing.

A few doors down Stark stuck his head around the corner, got a good look at the director’s face and said a silent prayer for the girl before retreating.

“Oh, come on. Thor’s poptart obsession is hardly a national secret. And what the hell, my facebook photos are friends only.”

“Any knowledge of the Avengers is classified. Out, Miss Lewis. I want you-”

“All this commotion.” Loki had emerged from one of the normally empty offices, fingers holding his place in the book at his side. “Over people learning my brother is an idiot? Really? I would think your race had observational skills enough to notice without our Darcy’s assistance.” He leaned a hip on the door frame of Fury’s office. “I do hope your remark was a dismissal and you are not firing the girl. I don’t have the time to train another minion on my coffee preferences. I imagine most of your scientists would feel the same.”

Fury narrowed his good eye, studying the god who had never said word one in any others defence. “Do not let it happen again, Lewis. Get out of my office.”

“Thanks,” he heard her say when the door didn’t close completely. “Nice of you to save my ass back there.”

“Child’s play, Darcy.”

“Still.” There was a pause as footsteps moved further away. “So seriously, you’re reading Lovecraft now? Dude, I’m getting really worried about the fate of my planet.”

No, Fury thought. No, he would not be letting the girl go. Keep your friends closer and your enemies, or more effectively those they cared for, much much closer.

bnckvbarnes:

“Oh my God you brought books!" Darcy squealed excitedly.

"Yes.” Frigga said. “I thought they may ease your time spent here.”

“Wow, thanks.” Darcy said in awe. Her eyes flicked to Loki, who still looked annoyed. “What’s the matter with you?” She asked. “You love books.”

His lip curled in disgust. “Enjoying reading and being expected to spend the rest of my life ploughing through books are two very different things.”

“I don’t know,” Darcy said. “Being expected to spend your whole life doing nothing but reading seems pretty great to me.”
