✾ AU: The Avengers, Darcy/Loki » “Unexpected Vulnerability”✾
~ Darcy’s curiosity in the God of Mischief magnifies when she witnesses an unexpected moment. ~
Previous Graphic + Ficlet Installments: Prequel | Part 1
What the hell am I doing? Darcy frowned at herself as she stood cowering behind Dr. Banner and Jane.
This was the last place in the world Darcy expected to be – standing at the bottom of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s holding room, looking up once again at the God of Mischief. Truth be told, she didn’t even have to be there. But when Dr. Banner required Jane’s assistance, Darcy immediately found herself volunteering to tag along and help out – much to Jane’s surprise.
Really, she couldn’t help it. The curiosity bug had bitten, and now Darcy couldn’t fight back the itch. She wanted to get a closer look at the detained deity they had on board. After all, everyone else had contact with him, except she and Jane up to that point. However, if anyone had a choice in the matter, they wouldn’t even be in there at all. Thor, in particular, had concerns for their safety. But in consideration of Jane’s expertise, all concerns were momentarily put to the wayside in an effort to help with the task at hand.
For her part, Darcy initially couldn’t figure why anyone should worry – especially since they had placed Loki in a stronghold that could withstand practically anything. Even Director Fury and Dr. Banner had assured them of that fact.
But it was easier said than done. As Thor had noted to the team, anything was possible with Loki. And for a moment, Darcy couldn’t help but carry that fearful thought in the back of her mind, as she stood partially hidden behind both doctors.
Within minutes, though, the worries melted away as she settled down and peered up at Loki. He stood there, his hands folded neatly behind his back, looking away from them in a quietly pensive, non-menacing way. In fact, if she didn’t know better, she thought he even looked uneasy and unsure of himself – kind of a pathetic sight.
Immediately, Darcy shook her head at this train of thought. All things considered, she knew she shouldn’t feel one ounce of pity for him. After all, Loki wasn’t some poor, caged animal. He was a being with a wicked bag of tricks, and he had been put inside that enclosure for a good reason. But Darcy couldn’t help but remember that cryptic smile – the one he had given her a day ago, prior to his confinement. It was neither the gentlest nor the kindest smile she had ever received, but it was…interesting, to say the least. It was still the smile of a trickster, though – at least, that’s what Jane would say.
As if zoning in on her thoughts, Loki suddenly turned to look down in their direction. For a moment, he eyed both Jane and Dr. Banner closely and somewhat threateningly before allowing his eyes to fall on Darcy. He paused and slowly nodded at her, with the corners of his mouth twitching upward in interest and amusement. But his attention was diverted from her when the doors on the upper level opened and two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents came out onto the landing, in the company of Thor.
Prior to this moment, Darcy didn’t think it was possible for anyone to exhibit so many emotions in just a matter of minutes. But from all appearances, it seemed that Loki was a gamut of feeling when it came to Thor and anything related to Asgard. Even from the lower level, she could still decipher fragments of their conversation: Asgard…Odin…Frigga…family…myeu-myeu – wait, no – Mjolnir…betrayal…forgiveness…
At first, the God of Mischief appeared to have the upper-hand, practically sneering with pride and over-confidence as Thor stood stone-faced in front of him. But with each passing word, Loki grew increasingly irritated and agitated with his brother. They were going back and forth on various points, but their conversation had come to a moot point. They made no progress on the situation, and it was apparent on Thor’s face that it pained him to walk away from his younger brother without any kind of resolution.
As Jane excused herself to talk to Thor and the other S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, Darcy found herself looking up towards Loki once again. As he turned away to face the other side of the cell, she noted the emotions reflected on his face – indignance, anger, resentment, frustration…
…and sadness? Raising her eyebrows, Darcy leaned against the pillar on her left and attempted to tiptoe a little to get a better look at the trickster’s expression. With his hand fisted against the glass, he was evidently mesmerized by private thoughts – of what exactly, she couldn’t be sure – but she could clearly see they were burdening his mind. Leaning his weight more fully against the glass, he finally shut his eyes heavily and gave in to the weight of them, apparently unaware that he still had an audience down below.
Darcy continued to watch him thoughtfully until Dr. Banner broke her out of her reverie with a question regarding Jane’s calculations. Stepping away from her vantage point of Loki, she attempted to clear him from her thoughts as she settled back down to work.
But now, that unexpected moment of vulnerability was permanently imbedded in her mind.
And somehow, it made her want to know the God of Mischief even more.

“What was that?”
Jane’s voice was enough to break Darcy out of her trance. “Erm…what was what?”
“He smiled at you.” The tiny brunette raised a questioning eyebrow at her.
Darcy didn’t answer. After all, it was just a smile.
One simple smile.
But considering the source, it was the most unusual thing in the world. Loki was, after all, a god – an apparently vicious and sneaky one who could not be trusted. And at the moment, he was being lead away in deity-resistant handcuffs to a jail cell somewhere deep in S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters. Yet somehow, he managed to smile directly at her – a pleasantly calm yet cryptic smile that lasted mere seconds.
Darcy knew she should be afraid, but for some very odd reason, she wasn’t. Well, maybe a little afraid, but not completely. Truth be told, she was more curious and intrigued than fearful – even more so now that they had that strange interlude.
From the corner of her eye, Darcy could see Jane shaking her head slightly at her, probably from worry and wonder. She couldn’t blame her; she certainly couldn’t make sense of any of it herself.
They continued to watch from behind as the group of soldiers marched down the hall and away from sight. And just like that, it was over. The ‘God of Mischief’ was gone and out of Darcy’s life.
Darcy tries to get Loki to come play in the snow with her, by any means necessary. Even if that means breaking out the Disney songs.
This has not been beta’d.
This kinda just popped into my head. It’s AU, not serious, and I’m, like, abandoning most all of the angst. It’s probably way out of character for the both of them, but I felt an urge to write it. So… I did 😛
Also, for Darcy Lewis Fluff Week Challenge.
Edit: It’s now been added to AO3 [x], where I added a bit more to it, so you can read it there or click ‘read more’ to read below 😛 (edit to the edit, this fic is now updated to match the AO3 version)
Darcy groaned as she leaned over to wipe the steam from her bathroom mirror off. Loki had offered to spell the mirror so it would stay clean and clear even through the hottest of showers, but she had reminded him that she was human. Or at least she was for a little while longer, and even though it was silly, she wanted to enjoy doing things the mortal way for as long as she could.
Looking into the mirror she couldn’t help the huge grin that took over her features. She never would have thought her life would turn out the way it had, but there she was standing in a luxurious bathroom in the palace on Asgard.
Tearing her eyes away from the mirror she set about getting dressed for the day. Loki had tried to press servants on her, but that she also refused and told him that no matter how long she lived she couldn’t stand the thought of someone else messing with her underwear.
Darcy sighed as she buttoned up her favorite pair of jeans, the fabric a little tight around her stomach. She knew she would be uncomfortable all day, but she also knew that it would be the last time she would be able to wear them for awhile. Plus as Loki was taking her to Earth for the day she didn’t think the dresses made from yards of the emerald silk he insisted on would really go over with her fellow humans.
“Surely we could find something here to do for the day.” Loki leaned against the bathroom doorway watching as his wife placed an atrocious hat on her head. He had always hated her hats.
“Yeah, and I know just what you have in mind, but I want one last visit to Earth before I’m no longer human. Come on, you like Earth, I mean you did try to take it over.” Darcy winked at her husband as she slipped on her boots. She was the only one able to get away with teasing him, all others ended up on the wrong end of Loki’s tricks.
“And look what I got for it, the consolation prize.” Loki laughed as Darcy’s hat was snatched away by a duplicate behind her and tossed his way. He caught it in one hand and smirked at the look on his wife’s face. It had been that look, that fury in her eyes that he had fallen in love with. She was strong and had refused to bow to him, it had intrigued him to the point he couldn’t stay away. It hadn’t taken him long after that to realize how much he had fallen in love with her.
“Loki! I swear, if you destroy that hat like my others you will be servicing yourself for the next month!” Darcy lunged forward for her hat, only to smack her face right into her husband’s leather clad chest. The infuriating man delighted in destroying her hats, and much of her human clothing for that matter. She lightly punched his chest as he slipped the hand with her hat behind his back and then proceeded to try and climb around and over him to get her hat.
“I doubt you could last that long My Dear.” Loki laughed and looked down at the woman that was now hanging off of him, her legs wrapped around his waist and hands clasped behind his neck. She looked comical with her hair all mussed up as she tried to actually climb him.
“Loki! That is my last hat!” Darcy tried to maneuver herself so she could reach behind her husband, but he just placed his free hand on her bottom and gave her a gentle smack.
“I’ll buy you a billion more hats, but this one has to go. Sorry Love, but this thing looks like a mad hound got to it, and I just can’t allow myself to be seen with someone in it.” Slipping his hand from her bottom and to the base of her neck he pulled her up as he leaned down and gave a small peck to her nose.
Darcy pulled back when she felt something velvety against her cheek and couldn’t help the soft giggle at finding a rose. Loki sure had a sense of humor as the flower he held in his hand still retained the colors and pattern of the knit hat he had made it from.
Shaking her head she took the rose and brought it to her nose. He was forever doing little things that made her smile and scream in turn. The hat before had been turned into a bird that had flown around and delighted all the children in the Court for hours. As far as she knew one of the little girls had taken it home in a cage Loki had fashioned out of golden branches, and it remained with her still.
“Come on Lover Boy, you promised me a day out.”

A.N: Ok, so I decided to do the Darcy Lewis Fluff week, and I couldn’t resist doing it Tasertricks. I’m thinking that all the oneshots I write this week are going to be connected, so unless I say otherwise assume they are. Also as I missed yesterday I’m posting two tonight.

Darcy drew open the wardrobe doors and rolled her eyes at the coats. “Sure, Jane, there’s a magic world in the wardrobe. What are you, seven?”
She pushed the coats aside, holding her iphone up to video the whole ridiculous ordeal. Only her fist didn’t connect with the back and no knocking sounded. “What the?” She poked her head from between the furs and screamed. “Holy what the fuck? Seriously?”
She walked into the snow, her sweatpants soaking through as her feet sank. “But. But this is ridiculous.” She walked, watching for the light post her boss had mentioned. Instead, she found a road dusted in white. Bells approached – a monstrous blue beast drawing an ornate sleigh.
“And what,” a voice drawled, “brings you to my kingdom?”
Darcy looked up at the blue figure wrapped in pale furs and tried for a friendly type of grin. “I shoulda taken that left turn at Albuquerque?”
The man frowned and offered a hand. “Mortal, you will die in this cold.” With a wave of his hand he presented her with a steaming drink in a fancy silver cup. “Drink, I don’t wish to deal with cleaning up corpses.”
Darcy took the drink. “Ok, but if you pull out a box of turkish delight I am not falling for it.”
I love it!
I kept thinking of Loki in the fur coat from the trailers 😛
☢ AU: The Avengers, Darcy/Loki » “A Storm is Brewing” ☢
~ The God of Mischief will leave Earth in no time…or so Darcy believes. ~
(This is a prequel to the following graphics + ficlets that I made:Part 1 | Part 2 )
“So…this is him?”
Darcy’s nose scrunched slightly as her eyes darted back and forth between the image on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s monitor and the book laid out before them.
“Yes, that’s him…that’s Loki.”
The pointed inflection in Jane’s voice made Darcy look up at her. She sounded anxious – and even a bit angry. Naturally, that was to be expected, considering the source of her anger happened to be an individual who had injured and killed human beings…not to mention, he was a deity, just like Thor.
And he wasn’t just any powerful deity, mind you. Loki was Thor’s brother.
But that’s where the connection began and ended. In essence, the two siblings couldn’t be more different. From what little Darcy had gathered, they were like night and day. Where Thor was the brawn, Loki was the brains. One moved with the strength and power of a lion, the other with the elegance and stealth of a gazelle. And apparently, it suited Loki quite well. He had managed to creep up on S.H.I.E.L.D. and wreak havoc when they had least expected it.
He certainly was the storm that no one had anticipated.
But now, the strongest reinforcements were being called in for help, which meant Loki would soon be captured in Stuttgart. Darcy peered over again at the projection of him on the LCD screen, his menacing gaze practically challenging anyone who would dare look that way. That profile was the closest she would ever get to him, and that was just fine in her book. With S.H.I.E.L.D. quickly taking the helm, the storm would blow over soon, and the brouhaha would cease.
Loki sat cross-legged on the floor in a dimly lit room near the kitchens. Before him in a circle sat Ægileif, Áfastr, and Hildibjörg. They had identical blond hair and stared up at him with wide and eager eyes. Their soft mouths hung slack-jawed in anticipation.
“You know why you are here,” he intoned, met with nods, “And you must keep what we do here secret.”
Nods.
“Swear it.”
“We swear,” their voices echoed together.
Loki grinned. He reached into his pocket and drew forth a slim volume bound with ribbon. He opened to the first page.
Tony Stark had long ago accepted that his life was weird. Charmed and amazing – often terrifying – but weird. Still, this took the cake. It’s not every day that he loaned out a guest room to a funny girl who got herself knocked up by the God of Mischief.
“I notice you, I want to say. Even when no one else does, I do. I will.” || classical musician au
They were reflections of the pieces they played, chasing each other across taut violin strings and piano keys, through lilting melodies and over countless years. He would never admit the truth to anyone, that his awkward, outspoken, dreamer of an accompanist was the muse that gave life to his music — only, it didn’t stop him from hoping she’d see it anyways.

“Play something for me.”
Darcy’s head snapped up, and she found herself flushing at the squeak of surprise that came from her throat. He gave that little half-smile of amusement, watching at she floundered a bit at being caught unawares.
“You mean me?”
He snorted, condescending green eyes meeting hers derisively. “Come now, Miss Lewis, do you see anyone else I could be speaking to?” His hand swept to the empty recording room mockingly, and Darcy felt the flush of embarrassment rise again, this time with a more than a touch of irritation. “Play something for me.”
“… Anything in particular?” she asked through gritted teeth, masked in a polite smile. It wasn’t in her nature to swallow her anger, not by any means, but she had heard stories of Loki Odinson’s notoriously mercurial temper, and there was no way she was screwing up on her first day. She needed this job.
“Surprise me,” he said lightly, thumb brushing over the strings of the violin in his hand. “Mozart? Bach? Debussy seems to be rising in popularity recently, and I do always enjoy a well-played Claire de Lune… a pity it has to be associated with those dreadful films though.”
“You mean Twilight?” Darcy blinked at him slowly, balanced on the edge of confusion and disbelief before frowning when he just kept looking at her with that patronizing expression. “Oh god, you’re serious,” she half-laughed incredulously. “You… you actually just went there.”
“Aside from your competence of your playing, Miss Hill mentioned little else about you besides your apparent youth.” He shrugged, looking thoroughly unperturbed. “From what I understand, that unfortunate vampire series seems to be regarded as a literary masterpiece by many of your generation.”
The disbelief was quickly disappearing in place of a searing tide of red-hot fury, rolling over her spine and clouding her brain. She could practically feel the brain-to-mouth filter she had tried so hard to maintain dissolve in a matter of seconds.
Screw the job.
“Okay, first of all, asshole? I’m only five years younger than you,” Darcy snapped, letting her hands slam onto the keyboard as she stood up abruptly. Ignoring his wince at the jarring, discordant slur from the piano and the screech of the piano bench against the wood floor, she continued, “And second? I got my bachelor’s degree at fucking Julliard, so for fuck’s sake, don’t treat me like I’m a goddamn middle school fangirl taking lessons for the first time!”
At her spitting reply, he cocked his head, studying her. She knew what she probably looked like — blush disappearing down her blouse collar, forehead creased, eyes narrowed. All together not a pretty picture, especially in front of a unfairly handsome British virtuoso, but at that moment she couldn’t really bring herself to give a damn.
He hummed, the noise sounding suspiciously like approval. “Fair enough.” He sat in the swivel chair by the piano bench, absentmindedly spinning in a few circles before letting the chair bring him to a stop. “Play your favorite piece.”
Snorting, she mock bowed at him as she fixed the bench and sat down. “As his highness commands,” she muttered and rolled her eyes.
Darcy cut off his responding laugh with a loud, pounding chord progression, noting with immense satisfaction that he had jumped when she abruptly started with the low and heavy notes. Lips curling up in a smirk, she glanced over to see his startled features, and he met her cocked eyebrow of challenge with another, quieter chuckle as he moved closer.
“Prokofiev, Dance of the Knights,” she heard him murmur in recognition, a distinct note of curiosity in his tone. “Interesting.”
It was as easy as breathing, feeling her fingers slide over the lacquered keys in a dance that seared itself into her memory long ago. Fingers jumping across the keyboard with a dexterity she had once only dreamed of accomplishing, she lost herself in the narrative as she closed her eyes, the melodies from each hand fighting for dominance within the space of the room as she let herself slip away.
She played like she was well and truly lost, completely unaware of his presence, and so Darcy didn’t notice the green gaze fixed on her expressive face, pupils blown and dark with lust, nor the large, slim hands that clenched the chair’s armrests with a knuckle-white grip.
