As You Wish
The first time Loki ordered Darcy around was in the lab. He had seen her handing a cup of coffee to Jane and demanded that she bring him one as well. Darcy raised one perfectly plucked eyebrow and Jane immediately recognized the glint in her eye.
“We would be together and have our books and at night be warm in bed together with the windows open and the stars shining bright.” ~Ernest Hemingway~
Tasertricks AU
Darcy Ann Lewis runs a quiet little bookshop in a quiet little town where nothing exciting ever happens. Just about the only thrills she can get are between the pages of the books she sells. That is until a tall, handsome stranger with adventure glinting in his eyes strolls into her shop.
Loki Laufeyson has been relentlessly searching for a certain book and he’s tracked it to a tiny, dusty shop in a tiny, dusty town. It should have been a quick exchange with the pretty little bookseller. Cash for the text and then on to the next clue – but no. The irritatingly bubbly termagant swore she had no idea what he was talking about.
Now he’s stuck in Podunk, New Mexico sorting through her haphazard organization to find the book while trying to keep his eyes and hands off the delectable Miss Lewis.
That is until a second party comes to town searching for the same thing and threatening Darcy.
Loki is determined to find the prize the book is rumored to lead to and equally determined to keep Darcy safe. Can he do both, or will he have to sacrifice one in order to have the other?
December 28 – “Apart from being sexy, what do you do for a living?” Tasertricks for @party-in-the-blue-box
“Loki, this is your fault!” Jane jabbed him sharply in the ribs. He looked down his nose at her.
“That seems to be a very common refrain among you Midgardians,” he sneered.
“Don’t. You. Dare.” Her eyes narrowed. “It’s your use of magic that led Hydra to us, and then you only grabbed me and not Darcy before you poofed out again!”
“Teleported, not poofed,” Loki shrugged irritably. “How was I to know that the other human was of use to you?”
Jane growled. Loki actually found himself taking a small step back. “Fine. Fine! I will go and get it.”
“HER! Her name is Darcy!” Jane shouted after him as he disappeared again in a puff of green smoke. “I am so getting Thor to hit you with Mjolnir when he gets here,” she muttered under her breath, starting to pace up and down.
Loki found the little mortal strapped down to a makeshift hospital bed in one of Hydra’s facilities. “Oh, this is distasteful,” he looked around, making a face. Sent the two lab-coated technicians who tried to rush him flying with a flick of his fingers; they both hit the wall hard and lay still.
“Darcy,” he leaned over the bed, reaching to unfasten the Velcro straps holding her down. “Can you hear me?”
Blue eyes opened, but her stare was unfocused, vague. “Hey, hot stuff,” she slurred at him. “Apart from being sexy, what do you do for a living?”
Startled, Loki blinked down at her. “I rescue Midgardian maidens in distress, it appears,” he said. “What did they give you, little one?”
“Dunno. Feel sleepy. Take me to bed, stud, or lose me forever.” She smiled dreamily, held her arms out towards him.
“I think sleep is probably what you need,” Loki said, “and a medical facility. A proper one.” He sighed. He was going to have to call in a favor from Stark, he just knew it. Gently, he lifted the little mortal into his arms. She tucked her face against his throat and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“You smell nice,” Darcy mumbled vaguely.
Loki realized, rather to his discomfort, that she smelled nice too. He had an ominous feeling that the grip she had around his neck wasn’t letting go anytime soon.
Imagine a Soulmate AU where your shadow is the silhouette of your soulmate. You find it really odd how sometimes the shadow of your soulmate appears with horns on his head.
People thought Darcy was the devil. It was something that she had come to terms with years ago, but it never stopped being a reality for her. Wherever she went there were whispers, sometimes there was pointing, there was always fear.
No one had wanted to explain it too her when she was younger, but she had discovered it herself before too long. Your shadow wasn’t really your shadow, it was your soulmate’s shadow. So what did it say about her, that her shadow was this intimidating figure with horns on it’s head? It was jarring for those around when she was small, having this large, horned male figure spreading out from her tiny body.
The conclusion they had come to was as obvious as it was ridiculous.
Darcy knew that her soulmate was not a devil or a demon or whatever else people said. Even if they was, though, it would be pretty cool. How many people could claim that their soulmate was a demon?
By the time she was in college she had learned to own it. To walk with the confidence of someone with a devil on their side, to stop caring about what other people thought of her and said about her and live like she wanted to. Sometimes, she even went so far as to match her soulmate, getting small fake horns and wearing them on her head in solidarity.
She wasn’t sure why her soulmate had horns most of the time, why they seemed so much older than her, but never seemed to age from what she saw of the silhouette, but she had learned to keep an open mind.
When an alien fell from the sky and into Jane’s life, she was pretty sure she had her answer.
Jane’s shadow had always been larger than life, inspiring a confidence in her that most either hated or admired. Darcy had always done the latter, while most of Jane’s colleagues did the former. It was fitting that she spent her entire life watching the sky and that’s where her soulmate came from.
It was a while later that she met Loki. He appeared in all his horned, caped glory, and she couldn’t help but to look between him and her shadow, just to make sure she wasn’t imagining it. But no, there was her own image, standing behind this man.
“Where is my brother?” He asked, just as Thor came bursting out to greet him.
“Loki!” Thor bellowed, hugging the man tightly, holding him in place while Darcy got her barrings. The man’s name reverberated in her mind as she stared at him. Their words quickly drifted into the background as she gathered up the power to speak.
“Loki,” She said. Her voice wasn’t weak, as she had feared. It was strong, excited. He looked at her with a raised eyebrow. “Hey, soulmate. Nice to see you in the flesh.”
The words seemed to be a switch. Loki looked at her more closely, at his shadow, then moved around Thor to stand before her. “You are the little one that has been following me for so long.”
“And you’re the devil that’s been stalking me all my life.”
Loki grinned, taking her hand and kissing it. “It will be a pleasure to stalk you in the flesh,” He told her. She was really looking forward to it.
Happy Galentines to @freshbrainss who wanted a Tasertricks Hades/Persephone AU and by golly gosh did I enjoy myself. I wanted to make it into a gif with the apple fading to green magic but the universe continues to thwart me. Alas.
Greek myth is a genealogical nightmare – Persephone is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, making her Hades’ niece twice as well his wife – so rather than Greek-ifying the MCU, I thought I’d Norse-ify the Greek story… and then turn it into the MCU.
So Loki doesn’t carry Darcy off but still has to double-cross her: promising Darcy knowledge with a golden apple. He gives the knowledge to be sure, but it certainly doesn’t come from the apple, which serves only to enthral her to him. Jane feels responsible because it’s her research Darcy was looking to help with, and she beseeches Thor to get Darcy back. Thor makes this demand but a magical contract is a magical contract and Thor cannot undo it. Loki’s end of the bargain – imparting wisdom – was fulfilled good and proper so Darcy must fulfil hers too. She spends spring, summer and autumn by Jane’s side and returns to Loki as his consort for the winter.
Darcy: I’m so cold Loki: Yes, I know. You know how I know? *smug face* Because we’re connected.
The very first year, she dreads it and promises herself that she’ll only respond to Loki with contempt and revulsion. But she gets there and… well, he’s got this sort of lonely nerd vibe, inviting her to play some Asgardian board game that looks a lot like it might be Dungeons and Dragons. Or Skyrim. Or something. Either way, it involved her having to come up with a ‘heroine’ to play as. Loki spends a lot of time on it, even without her, and Darcy decides this whole thing was a set up so that Loki could have some company. So she gives it to him. Loki’s not particularly tactile, so she delights in making him squirm by playing with his hair or putting her feet in his lap. And she learns that if she tickles this one spot on his back he will absolutely lie in bed for an hour with a book while Darcy uses him as a giant bed-warmer. Bed-warmers soon become pillows, which in turn become cuddle-buddies that smell Darcy’s hair and run their fingertips down her side. And cuddle-buddies then become a different kind of buddies.
Thor comes to collect her around Easter time, surprised to find Darcy is not exactly thrilled to see him and that Loki has quite a few hickeys down his neck.
Went for the second one because I like drawing hair 🙂
I like the ida of Loki surreptitiously leaving Darcy flowers, trying to be all subtle and anonymous. Except he doesn’t realise that flowers don’t come in blue and gold, or silver and orange, or iridescent mint colours on Earth. So Darcy knows it’s him, because it can only be him or Thor and it ain’t Thor. But she doesn’t want him to stop if he’s caught, so she lets him leave her Asgardian flowers on her laundry pile, or in a little crystal jug next to her breakfast.
A/N: I don’t know what’s wrong with me, but I’ve accidentally written another Modern Royalty AU. Prince Loki/Exchange Student Darcy. Forbidden romance. All that. I think I was going for a Romeo + Juliet vibe. With less poison and stabbing.
Enjoy. But be aware. This is angsty.
I’m Kissing You
Darcy leaned back against the stone wall in the garden,
pausing to catch her breath. Tonight
wasn’t really something she’d been looking forward to.
“Loki?” she shout-whispered over her
shoulder. His hand appeared, grasping
hers and making her jump.
“I’m here,” he replied. The knot in her stomach loosened
somewhat. He was here. If a little shit for scaring her like that in
the dark.
“Good…” she sighed in relief, turning towards
his voice. She’d been so prepared to
tell him until she heard him speak. That
voice did things to her. Her hands
sought out the rest of him, moving up the planes of his chest and around his
shoulders as he bent to meet her lips.
“We can’t keep meeting like this…” he
murmured. "I’m useless all day
long…all I can think about is you…it’s absolutely unacceptable.“
She gulped as he kissed her again, more fervently than
before. Her back hit the wall and his
hand slid up to keep her head from doing the same.
“You know it wouldn’t be any different if I was with
you…” she teased half-heartedly.
There were too many ‘ifs’ in that sentence.
He chuckled.
“True. I’d be wrapped up in
you all day. I’d get even less done than
I do now…” He trailed off, his hands pulling her closer as his eyes
searched hers, almost resigned.
“Somethings changed…hasn’t it?”
She pressed her lips together and nodded. The thing she’d been avoiding all
week…putting off until tomorrow…had officially run out of tomorrows.
“I’m…uh…” she cleared her throat. "I’m leaving. Semester’s over. I’m going home. Leaving tomorrow morning,
actually.“
He frowned.
"Why?”
“I…just told you.
My semester’s over. I’m not part
of the study-abroad program anymore. I
have to go home.”
He shook his head.
“Stay. I can get you an
apartment. You wouldn’t want for anything.
Why leave if you don’t have to?”
She swallowed the lump in her throat, shaking her head. "That’s not what I want,
Loki.“
He closed his eyes for a moment. "I can’t give you that. Why must you ask for
the one thing I can’t give, you infuriating woman?”
“I’m not asking for it.
I’m telling you…that…” she swallowed thickly. "This was…wonderful. But I have to move on with my life. I can’t be with someone who isn’t allowed to
be with me. I won’t be a dirty little
secret you keep hidden away.“
"You aren’t a dirty secret. You know my father would never allow us to be
together. He’d…he’d send me
away!”
“I know that.
And instead of letting that happen…I’m–”
“You’re sending YOURSELF away,” he accused. "It’s no better than what my father
would do.“
"You know what I want, Loki.”
“And I’d give it to you in a heartbeat, Darcy…I
just…I can’t go against my father’s wishes.
I would if I could, but I physically CAN’T.”
“And I can’t sit by and watch you marry someone
else. Grow old in an apartment waiting
for you to have time for me.”
Loki set his jaw and dropped his hands from her
shoulders. He crossed his arms in front
of him petulantly, looking anywhere but at her.
She sniffed, shaking her head. "So that’s it?“
No answer.
"You’re going to give me the silent treatment like a
spoiled brat?”
“What would you HAVE me do, Darcy?” he
hissed. "You have me between a rock
and a hard place.“
"How about kiss me goodbye? Make these last moments between us
memorable?”
“You gave me no notice! You gave me no time to prepare!
You’ve known this for days and never told me!”
She sniffed. “How could I tell you? How could I when
all I wanted…all I EVER want is to make you happy? How could I tell you the one thing that
wouldn’t?”
“If you want to make me happy, STAY…” he
pleaded. "Stay here. With me.“
"And if you want to make ME happy, you’ll let me go.”
His eyes were shining as he blinked, looking down at his
hands. "When are you leaving? What
time?“
"I have to be at the airport at six am.”
He swore under his breath before composing himself,
straightening his shoulders and schooling his features. "Well then…I suppose we have six hours
left together…let’s make them count, shall we?“
Birthday Tasertricks for @soothsayerstale!
Happy birthday, my friend! I hope your day is full of amazing people and things. You deserve it!! So here is just a little drabble-y thing for you.❤
Loki sat on the edge of the bed watching his lover sleep. He adored her this way, in his bed, between his sheets, warm from a night spent in his arms. Darcy was a whirlwind of personality when awake, an untamed force of nature he never expected and didn’t know how he ever lived without. But at this moment, with the soft light of dawn curling around her, she was beauty tamed.
One hand reached out to tuck some loose hair behind her ear before cupping her cheek. She changed so much for him these last few years. It was inevitable that he fell in love with her.
He stroked her cheek with his thumb and ruefully smiled at how he had gone from not caring to waxing poetic about his woman. Her eyes blinked open at his touch.
“Loki?” She murmured, shifting closer to his heat and falling promptly back to sleep.
“Aye, it’s me,” he replied. Leaning forward he tenderly kissed her forehead and whispered in her ear. “Happy birthday, love.”
