mary poppins fits the mythological role of a trickster god, discuss

She….she shows up in a time of dullness, creates chaos and drives on the story, but always is sure that everything is fixed, though changed, often for the better. Lessons were learned. Holy crap, she fits the archetype very well.

This continues to be my favorite conversation-starter post on this site.

I like Thor generally, and I wish he was more appreciated in canon and fandom, but he’s obviously not flawless. And he’s like kind of a shitty boyfriend.

Like at the end of AoU (*hiss*) he just up and leaves apparently without letting Jane know. And now it looks like we’ll never hear from Jane Foster again 😦

So I just want some kind of tasertricks/fosterson au where Thor and the other Avengers are teasing Loki for texting Darcy when heroics demand their presence. Loki just smirks at him and continues typing:

World domination beckons, darling. The Widow estimates 3 days. Thor says he shan’t bother informing Jane so as not 2 appear ‘whipped’ in front of his fellows. Do with that knowledge what u will. L x”

And when they get back, Thor’s pride and elation in victory are popped like a balloon when he realises Jane is giving him the cold shoulder. He finds he’s relegated to sleeping on the sofa and that all his access privileges to Jane’s spaces have been revoked. It’s the silent treatment, no matter how much he begs or bellows at the door. Loki just puts his thumb on the security panel for Darcy’s room and slides right in with the smuggest of faces.

Imagine your Smol and Tol otp where Tol is doing push-ups and Smol is lying under them so they are more motivated to stay up on their arms and keep going and sometimes when they push down they get a peck on the lips (and then Tol gets tired and collapses heavily on top of Smol, smushing them while they flail)

@mischiefslady wooops another (naughty) workout idea 😘!

Do you think Tom Hiddleston and Kat Dennings would let us have a small gif of that? For inspirational purposes of course….

Oh I don’t know about gifs, but my mechanical pencil is now tingling!!! While we’re on the topic can I add a sexy sit-ups too? Smol would be sitting and holding Tol by his feet, you know, so they can come face to face and smooch each time Tol’s rises. I wonder how many reps he can manages before things get out of hand.

Oh…oh…OH!!! I think this can be arranged! And if your artistic senses are tingling, all the better!! Must write notes so when I’m settled in to my new apartment (in a few short weeks!!!) I can work out a writing schedule and catch up on all my fics!!

Plot bunny of the day:

Loki is returned to Earth, to Avengers custody, when Asgard determines his actions during the invasion coerced/non-voluntary. Usually stories with this set-up involve Clint regarding Loki with suspicion and/or having Loki’s presence trigger Clint.

Let’s flip that.

Clint is a trained operative in a secret intelligence agency, and before that a mercenary. What happened during the invasion wasn’t fun by any stretch of the imagination, but he can deal. He’s worked undercover before, and the experience, while extreme, is not entirely unlike spending too much time in the headspace of a particularly un-Clint-like cover identity. There’s protocol for this kind of thing, okay? It takes a bit of effort to get his head on straight, but he has family and friends and mandatory SHIELD counseling.

Loki does not have that background or grounding network. He’s barely adult, all the emotional bonds he held prior to the events of Thor are strained if not outright shattered, and he’s expected to “make restitution” to an alien people for actions that occurred while his body and mind were held hostage to the whims of an omnicidal sadist. On top of that, as far he understands Midgardian culture, SHIELD is an organization comprised of people who have no qualms killing and/or torturing their prisoners. And fancy language aside, Loki has no illusions about his status.

As far as Loki knows, Clint kills people for money. And when he needed to bypass Midgardian-style security protocols, this same assassin requested “an eyeball and a distraction.”

The Avengers know Loki is avoiding Clint but they don’t realize why

Until a situation occurs that forces Clint and Loki to work together, and the ease of that collaboration trips Loki into a flashback.
